RE-INCLUSION OF ATHLETES WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES IN THE PARALYMPIC GAMES

For the last few years Mencap, our member national organisation in the UK, has been leading a campaign for the re-inclusion of athletes with intellectual disability in the Paralympics with full support from Inclusion International.

On Monday 21 November, 2009 the IPC General Assembly announced their decision to lift the ban preventing athletes with intellectual disabilities from participating in competitions, including the Paralympics Games.
